4-16-20 : Fortune cookie, without a fortune - Day 24

Home today, during what is my current scheduled work week. Regrettably, chronic health conditions don’t give a shit about a pandemic. MS doesn’t give you a day off - you hope it’s just the nagging voice in your limbs or the back of your skull, but heaven help you if you allow stress, lack of sleep, illness, or depression to affect your life. It seems like the chicken or the egg, which issue is causing which, but I happen to think it’s more like the hypnotic spiral illusion - without getting sucked into the madness, try and find the beginning.

The health of the family is always at the forefront of our minds, as it is (hopefully) for everyone else. Both the wife and I are "essential" employees and this forces us to think about whom we come in contact with and where we have traveled; work, gas station, grocery store, etc. Thankfully, the wife and I have been fortunate that our companies have, at least, made attempts to make it easier and safer for those of us still required to work.

COVID-19 quarantine has made the world an interesting place. Not that it wasn’t previously, but personal values and their hypocrisy have been brought to the forefront. Who would have thought that companies and CEO’s would have been so obvious about their disdain to workers?

1-15-13 : The collection

Being ill is awful. The picture enclosed is the start of this years pill bottle collection.

Stay tuned! Watch it grow!

Bleech.

1-11-13 : Deja Vu?

Same old, same old. Home again due to numbness, fatigue and pain. Makes for a pretty quick spiral into depression. Bleech.

The house had new windows put in today. Hooray?! Hopefully the new front window doesn't start any additional cat wars.

Netflix is annoying. Fair Maiden was going to watch Dexter, but that's not a streaming option. (Boo) So we watched 2 episodes of DS9, before she called it an early night. I stayed up and watched the Bucks and Lakers lose badly.

1-10-13 : Building a better you

MS is no ones friend. So on days when you wake up and one hand is almost completely numb and the other one feels like its been struck with a hammer, it's going to be a long day.

About 7 hours of Face/Off (Syfy) later, I can confirm that hypothesis. Didn't get much of anything done. Pain, numbness, and fatigue saw to that. Rain rolled in about 6pm, but didn't bring relief.

Looks to be an interesting upcoming Friday!

1-3-13 : Asleep at the wheel

Chronic illness is a pain in the ass. Well, Sometimes it's pain. Sometimes it's numbness.

Today? My old friend fatigue. And before you jump to the "Well everyone gets tired" just stop. It's worse. Far, far worse.

I awoke this morning at my normal time, after going to bed at my normal time, and knew it was going to be a long day. Every step was exhausting and just making it up the stairs wiped me out. I ate breakfast and got the boy up and ready for school.

Then (because I'm a trooper) I left for work. I stopped at the nearby Speedway and grabbed a soda and some candy, in the hope that the sugar would turn things around. Made it to work with no problems, but that's when things got interesting.

I do a lot of data entry and I joke that I can do my work in my sleep. Sadly, after today I know that is not fact. After getting my work ready, I sat down to begin.

Not good at all.

So after telling my boss that I had to leave, and catching my co-workers annoyed glances, I made my way home. Once again... Not the wisest of ideas. I made it home safely, but praise whomever that the weather was good, as I know several times I caught myself weaving on the road.

I crashed when I got home. I'm somewhat better now... at 5pm. But this was not a fun day.
